Lucas Cavanagh & The Train Wrecks
Wingham's very own Contemporary Rock N Roll band, Lucas Cavanagh & The Train Wrecks are brought to life by a Nashville-inspired band lineup. The LC&TTW sound is a delectable gumbo of rock and alt-country, with shades of psychedelia underpinned by Australiana roots and Americana songwriting traditions - A diverse, dynamic and deceivingly daring musical Venn diagram
Making a delightful racket similar to the likes of Hunters & Collectors, The Clash, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and The Cars, the band consists of Lucas Cavanagh on lead vocals and guitar, Isaac 'Iza' Warner on guitar and backing vocals, Ryder 'Jaffa' Eyb on drums and backing vocals, Riley 'Salad' Brown on bass, and Max Leggott on saxophone and keys (when the stars align)
In less than 6 months the band has: gone on a 9-date tour of New South Wales spanning from Wherrol Flat to Thirroul, independently released two singles, supported Pacific Avenue, played Old Bar Beach Festival and Wingham Music Festival Flood Recovery 2025, recorded a double EP, played ticketed headline shows state wide, and will see out the year ’25 with stops at Sonic Brew Rock N Roll Xmas in Wingham and Marrickville Tennis Clubs New Years Eve in Sydney
After a handful of gigs, dear friends joining and leaving the group, and various band formations (one of which saw their front man playing drums and singing), Lucas, Isaac, their old band mate Bob and Train Wreck ring-in Jack entered and won the Wingham Busker Muster in May 2025, earning them a guaranteed spot on Wingham’s annual music festival
With the addition of Ryder on drums and Riley on Bass, the live engine of Lucas Cavanagh & The Train Wrecks is fully actualised as a quintet (again) - The original concept of the band. Honing a lengthy catalogue of songs written by Lucas, the live unit is full steam ahead, working closely with photographer Ulali Gillespie, engineer and Train Wreck ring-in Taylor James (The Nature Painters) and Ben Butler-Kwa in the studio, recording live at ‘Blues 48’; The bands main creative and social space
Written well before the band originated, Lucas’ first singles ‘Giddy Dog’ and ‘Life Looking Up’ are performed entirely by him, excluding sax played by Max. Recorded by Taylor James and mixed and produced by David ‘Strawb ‘ Quinn
